TRE Steampunk Club Restaurant and Bar will be opening its doors on 16 September, aiming to draw Bree Street crowds with boozy burgers, wine pairings and a 24-hour food hatch.
Located at 142 Bree Street (on the corner of Leeuwen Street), the stylish new eatery is owned by restaurateur Justin Whittaker, who was previously the food and beverage director at Boschendal Wine Estate. TRE’s menu caters to all dietary requirements and is perfect for late-night dining.
The offering features booze-infused burgers made with Hendrick’s Gin, Bacardi and Jack Daniel’s; paleo- and banting-friendly DIY salads; and classic grills with a twist like the stuffed smoked-pork loin with bacon gravy. The kitchen will also let guests choose the oils with which their food will be prepared: olive, coconut, avocado or even macadamia. TRE Steampunk Club will also offer a food-and-drinks pairing menu, which will change every two weeks.
Night owls can look forward to the opening of a hatch called TRE Pajamas in the near future. This addition will be open all day and all night from Monday to Saturday, and will serve wholesome takeaways to Bree Street’s bar hoppers.
As for the steampunk décor, the space has a more whimsical Monty Pythonesque approach to the theme, featuring artwork by American artist Joshua Werner, who has done work for Marvel Comics.
TRE Steampunk Club Restaurant and Bar will open on Friday 16 September. Keep your eyes on the Facebook page for event announcements.
