Tasteless beef stew i had this afternoon. Not fresh and looking old. Never again will i pay for such a low quality of food. I reported to the manager and waitress...they were very understanding. It doesnt change the tasteless food though.I have pictures to prove this...

Had breakfast at Bread & Butter yeaterday with family. This is about the 5th or 6th time we went there...for the lovely food. As happens with poor experiences, one's memory saves one from carrying the pain around. I guess.this why we.went there yet again. After all this time i can honestly say this restaurant is highly consistent with poor slow service and shocking management. We waited so long for our food that my youngest was no longer hungry. I tried to cancel his order and was told that it was already being prepared. However 15 mins later it still had not arrived. I tried to cancel it again and was told it's now on its way. We were also told that our order was placed at 10h24 and that it was not unusual to wait 30mins for bacon and eggs. We in fact arrived at 10am and certainly did not wait 24 mins before ordering breakfast. But at Bread and Butter the customer does not have the last say. We received our bill...complete with the breakfast which we tried to cancel and no apology from management. Word of mouth is an awful thing. Bread and butter will not see any of us again.

What a lovely and central coffee shop in Cape Town. We went for an early breakfast and from the start this was a lovely experience. The restaurant is stunning and unique inside with a French feel and décor, with so many small and lovely details. From the chairs, the tables, the couches, everything is unique, some fancy and some more rustic, not the normal or average table and chairs you will find in every other coffee shop. Their Cake and pastries section is incredible and they have such a diversity. Breakfast is served on a wooden board in a unique way and very nice. Quality of food is great and fresh and a must try. Coffees and lattes comes in different colored (pink and blue and green) mugs for an extra special touch. The chairs sit so comfortably and they even have a separate section for moms and their babies or kids with a play section where moms come together to enjoy the same luxury and style but away from the main part of the coffee shop which makes this very popular with mothers and everyone coming to dine there

I am so sad to report shocking service from Bread and Butter. I often go here because of the delicious food and warm atmosphere but have once again been disappointed by the poor service. From what I can see there are two issues. The kitchen is too slow for the amount of customers that are coming through the shop and the managers are not good at dealing with the kitchen staff or the customers. When I informed the manageress today that I was nearly finished my bacon and egg and my daughter's pancake had still not arrived, she proceeded to tell me that she had already shouted in the kitchen and nothing had happened! Really??!!
I asked the teachers from our school to go to your restaurant for our end of term tea and they refused to go because of numerous bad service episodes. This is such a lovely restaurant! Please up your service so that we can continue to enjoy the food and ambience without the stress of bad service.

I visit Cape Town from Angola quite often and Bread and Butter was such a pleasant change. It is not often that you eat at a restaurant where the manager is not only visible but also concerned about the customers. The service was good and the food was great and the manageress took the time to chat to us and make sure that we were receiving only the best care. What amazing customer service!!! You will surely see us again!!
