This restuarant is situated close to my place of work. It is very convenient if you have work colleagues visiting or want to meet for a quick lunch. I have been there several times and every experience has been mediocre. The food is does not even attempt to be pleasant. They are over priced, and the owners want to argue with you when you indicate an unpleasant taste. today I went in for lunch with some colleagues from Johannesburg. We ordered chicken and chips, beef and vegetables and lamp with chips. What a horror, they could not even get these simple dishes right. the lamb looked as if it was parboiled then thrown in a pizza oven. It was dry and tasteless. The chicken looked worse than shoprites chicken made in those large grillers. The vegetables looked like they had been dipped in slime. My colleague had to run the bathroom to throw up. I eventually saw that my vegies were also horrific looking filled with slime. When we reported this to the owner,he argued that the one patron had messed up the lamp by ordering that we have grilled in the fryer. I asked him to taste the vegies himself which he refused but looked quite pissed off that I even bothered complaining. the only thing edible on that table was the chips which were probably frozen then fried. What ticked me even more was the assumption by the owner that because we didnt understand food we should not order what we dont know, i.e. you black people dont understand the menu so dont order it. Really. this is not the first time I have such an horrific experience at this resturant. In summer time, they wave off any complaints because they know they make their money from the countless tourists on the square. In winter time, they dish up the drivle to the locals and dont give a hoot in terms of customer service. Perhaps Gordon Rhamsey should make a turn and check out their fridges. What a night mare of an experience. This resturant should be closed down and have a shoprite checkers put there instead.
