This has to be my absolute favourite spot to have prawns. They get the prawns cooked well and the sauce is perfectly balanced from a flavour perspective - spot on. I love the ambience and set up. They deliver great food consistently and its my firm favourite.

Last night I had the privilege to be invited to experience the newly renovated Pappas On The Square Restaurant at Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton.
This eatery is an establishment in Sandton, with it’s doors first opening in the 1987 – yes, Pappas on the Square just celebrated it’s 30th Birthday! It was time for Pappas to get a make-over, and it is looking beautiful.
A new bar as well as a semi-private dining room were added, and the rich element of plated copper adds beautiful warmth and sophistication.
New menu items were also incorporated to fit in with this brand new look.
We had the opportunity to try a variety of the menu items, so here we go, let me show you what you can look forward to:
Deep-fried prawns and mussel pot – both dishes were totally scrumptious!
Deep fried white bait and feta in phyllo pastry. I took a liking to the white bait – interesting dish! And the feta in phyllo – I LOVE cheese!
Trout ceviche! A beautiful summer dish.
These ribs were also VERY popular!
This is how I like my Greek salad! No lettuce and LOTS of feta and olives!
What a feast! The restaurant is looking beautiful, lots of open spaces and a few intimate corner. And family-style, wholesome food!

Pappas restaurant in Nelson Mandela square in Sandton definitely captures two things Mandela stood for namely family and hospitality. From the time you enter the restaurant one is blown away by the unique feel and pieces of art on display in the shop. The waiters are friendly and offer a great hand in helping you enjoy your meditaranian fiest.
Being a vegetarian does not go unnoticed in this amazing restaurant every item on the menu is suited to a a whole families tastebuds. To begin our feast of great Greek eats we were served a flat bread with humus and another exotic spread to dip our starter in. We also enjoyed the vegetarian meze platter which had the best of Greece on a plate; from grilled black mushrooms with spinach to the freshest falafels on a stick to halumi cheese grilled to perfection this starter really invited you in for a real hearty meal.
Seafood can be enjoyed anywhere but I must say that pappas Greek fish and chips was seasoned and grilled to perfection. They serve only the freshest of produce to you the diner. The chips which accompanied the fish were seasoned with the sea salt and rosemary which gave off a beautiful aroma. The seafood duo phyllo salad was beautifully presented in crispy phyllo pastry bowls which held the secrets of the creamiest prawns.
Finally no meal is complete without a sweet treat. Pappas bar one spring rolls were divine. Wrapped in the crunchiest phyllo pastry each bite certainly packed a punch!
Pappas is a real authentic Greek dining experience in the heart of joburg which is certainly a journey of many exotic tastes.
