The Farmer's Kitchen and it's twin restaurant/bar Thirsty Scarecrow are literally and figuratively the two most colourful restaurants in the Stellenbosch area. Not only do you have a scenic view while enjoying an excellent drink, but you are surrounded by beautiful strawberry fields and colourful scarecrows. The food is really fantastic and there are plenty variety to choose from. The drinks....oh boy. The coffee is really great and don't get me started on the milkshakes and the strawberry champagne! A wide variety of craft beers are available from Thirsty Scarecrow. Food and drink on the menu will suit almost everyone's liking. What further makes both restaurants so nice, is that it is really cool place to linger....either with your kids at the Farmer's Kitchen (they have a lovely play area for kids), with your special someone (enjoying the view) or a big group or friends/family (they have room). It's really perfect for a birthday party or other special celebration as well. I highly recommend that you make a stop, when visiting or passing through Stellenbosch!
It was a rainy day in Stellenbosch. My family and I were a bit soaked from spending the morning at the market nearby. We stopped at The Farmer's Kitchen for lunch. Lots of parking available, great! We were warmly greeted by the waiters and were offered a nice and cosy table with soft chairs. The kids made themselves at home between all the pillows. We ordered some house dry red, which was delicious. My husband and I shared the cold meat platter. This was divine. Everything was so tasty and fresh. The kids had potato wedges and chicken strips, all served on very unique crockery. They each had a strawberry milkshake, made from real strawberries, thick and creamy! Lovely (we finished the rest). This lunch was the highlight of the morning. The kids could not play outside due to the weather, but we will surely visit in the summer! Very nice play area for the kids. Definitely a must visit I would say.

We arrived at this "farmstall restaurant" right next door to Mooiberge on R44 and had a light lunch at about 15h30. We had a feast indeed - friendly service, manager (owner), Kelly, very helpful and willing to please. The tomato pesto is brilliant. Will always be coming back! Well done Kelly! Liz - Debbie & Marie

Always great... Food scrumptious, staff friendly and helpful. Absolute gem in Winelands. Get in your car, go now!

I didn't even know this place existed and all I can say is wow! Everything was just excellent from start to finish.
