It is nestled in the heart of Jozi’s banking district and people in suits line the bar after work for a quick drink or snack. But it’s worth taking the time to sit down and enjoy the food. The Darkie burgers are very good – homemade patties and fresh buns with chunky ‘slap chips’. It also serves a mean breakfast: try the Jozi pancakes with crispy bacon and syrup. For something a little more African it also offers pap and wors and lots of njama to choose from.Wine:
A large selection of mostly middle-range wines – but they come with a price tag.Service:
It’s perfectly on the ball but great at giving you your personal space. You’ll always have just what you need.Ambience:
There’s a great energy about this place. Nice and calm during the day until the sun sets and the jazz and rhythms start. People from all walks of life fill the space and groovy sounds keep the feet tapping until late.And...:
There’s 24-hour security just for good measure. (RD, September 2010)
