We Spent 5 days In langebaan last week and one of the highlights was to be Die Strandloper. We where a group of 12 people. Upon arriving we where greeted by the hostess. Her demeanor is somewhat friendly but stern. The food was an utter disappointment. Tastless, unseasoned, saltless. That was the general theme on almost everything we ate. Tiny pieces of unseasoned, tastless, bony fish is not my idea of a great meal. The minute you take your eye of your plate, it gets swarmed by flies. The only thing that was appetizing was the bread and jams The lamb stew looked totally unappetizing and the fish curry was more like a stew. We all 12 left the place feeling Totally disappointed and still hungry. We ended up going to Pirates pub/restuarant where we had a braai pack each for only R50 per person. They seasoned and braaied it for us. The meat was great and it was a great atmosphere and experience. We paid R3720 for 12 people (R310pp) at Die Strandloper which was an absolute rip off for the food we got. Disappointed !!!
If you love fish, a layer-back sunny atmosphere and random guitar music, this beach gem is for you! With a 10 course fish feast and homemade bread selection, Die Strandloper is the place where you, your fam and friends will enjoy sun over a 5 hour dinner. I went here three years ago and can't wait to return next month!
While overseas I made an internet reservation for the 28 Nov 2013 during Oct. Having done that I booked and paid for accommodation at Club Mykonos Resort for the same evening. On the 13 Nov I called Strandloper to confirm the reservation. I was duly informed that they were not open that specific evening. When I pointed out that their website had accepted my reservation the lady whom I spoke to was quite arrogant saying "that it was not her fault that the website had not been updated not to allow a booking for the specific day". There was no apology forthcoming and when I pointed out that I had booked accommodation (and paid for it) based on their acceptance of my internet booking her answer was "it's not my problem." I was unable to get a refund from Club Mykonos and obviously can not have any recourse against them.

Seriously dissapointing food. I was expecting a rustic vibe - and that what it was, so no problems there. Fish nets. Low benches (uncomfortable for a 10 course meal).
What was so dissapointing was the food. Every single dish cooked on the open fires was very overcooked...and underseasoned. Criminal to waste seemingly fresh seafood by way overcooking it. All was dry and bland. The crayfish was so dry it was inedible. I would avoid this place until they learn how to cook fish. Pity.
