Food:

Best for a great interpretation of Mozambiquan Portuguese food. Bean stew is as at home as seafood or steak at this family-run establishment that serves excellent fare. Mutton chacuti and chips are spicy (almost like a biryani spice mix, but not hot), cooked in a coconut milk and tomato base, and served with coconut rice.

Wine:

Some Portuguese wines, like Lagosta, Casal García Rosé, Vinho Verde, among the South African ones. If wines don’t appeal, there is an extensive drinks menu.

Service:

Charming and friendly; you feel as if you’re in Mozambique.

Ambience:

An informal, friendly restaurant with a bright and colourful interior that serves great food. It is cold in this part of Mpumalanga, so sitting around the fire enhances the cosiness.

And...:

Beg the kitchen to make you the steak regionale (rump with butter, whiskey and garlic), which is a house speciality of the Dullstroom branch. (HF, September 2010)
