“Situated in a wonderful country setting, with beautiful views of the Strandveld open lands. Good cuisine with excellent wines on this old historical farm with its thatched roofs. Excellent venue for watching a moonrise.”

Oh my word. What a delightful experience! Melanie Albertyn is the consummate professional - both as chef and hostess. I am yet to experience truer hospitality and a more perfectly prepared fillet than here at Nacht Wacth at the southern-most tip of Africa. Well done and thank you, Melanie!

Once in a blue moon, you don't anticipate much and get pleasantly suprised and this was one of those moons. On a weekend break in Arniston, my wife and I decided to drive out for a restaurant rather than eat at the hotel.
After consulting the Eat Out website, we decided to go to the Nacht Wacht near Bredasdorp.
We had an extremly nice evening. The setting is rural but modern. Owner, waitress and chef Melany Albertyn - where does she have the time to also chat to her guests? - and her team served us a dinner of which if I had to use only one word to describe it, it would be FRESH. My wife had lamb in wine reduction (from own farm) and I a seafood dish with cod, prawns and calamari. It was delicious and went down well with a local red and white wine.
If you are ever in the region, it's worth a detour. No doubt we will be back.

While on a rainy holiday near De Mond, we decided to give Country Cuisine a try, having read a positive review. The seeming quietness at the beautiful old homestead left us a little apprehensive, but I can honestly say this was one of the best meals I’ve ever had in the Overberg – and not only because it was such a nice surprise. The food was excellent and everything was well put together, with great attention to detail. The malva pudding is seriously good!
On a rainy holiday near De Mond, we decided to give Country Cuisine a try, having read a positive review in Wine magazine. The rather uninspiring name and the seeming quietness at the beautiful old homestead left us a little apprehensive, but I can honestly say this was one of the best meals Ive ever had in the Overberg and not only because it was such a nice surprise. The food was excellent - everything well put together with great attention to detail. Melanies very present, friendly but never pushy. I felt I was in the right hands, despite her waitrons slightly uncertain and shy manner. (And the Malva pudding is seriously good!)
What an honest little gem ! Great hostess, fresh, well-sourced produce, and a wonderful Strandveld vista. This ones definitely worth a visit if you enjoy classy country style. Located on a historic farm,I would love to visit at night to experience the magic.
