Adorned in antique wallpaper and French country accents, this cosily romantic spot offers Parisienne charm by the bucket load. As the name alludes, the bakes on offer are mouthwatering, especially the apricot and almond frangipane tartlett washed down with one of the Mariage Frères teas on offer. For a lunchtime treat, go the traditional route and order one of their scrumptious croc monsieurs.
What a lovely spot! We sat out on the patio under the tree, looking out at the buzz of De Waterkant. I tried the souffle omlet - which was beautifully light, studded with crispy, flavourful bacon, cheese and sweet roast tomatoes. We were sceptical about the eggs Benedict, which my partner tried, because the eggs came in odd oval shapes like they'd been cooked in one of those devices, but it tasted great and was covered in one of the best Hollandaise sauces we've ever tried. Apparently they're now open for dinner too - we'll be back.
