The best carrot cake in town.

Lovely little spot with a great selection of cakes, I recommend the carrot cake! I had the eggs benedict that was simple yet tasty. Service a bit slow but if you are not in a rush you can simply soak up the atmosphere and do some people watching from the sidewalk.

What a lovely spot! We sat out on the patio under the tree, looking out at the buzz of De Waterkant. I tried the souffle omlet - which was beautifully light, studded with crispy, flavourful bacon, cheese and sweet roast tomatoes. We were sceptical about the eggs Benedict, which my partner tried, because the eggs came in odd oval shapes like they'd been cooked in one of those devices, but it tasted great and was covered in one of the best Hollandaise sauces we've ever tried. Apparently they're now open for dinner too - we'll be back.

Ooo what a pity Le Petite Tarte, you were fast becoming my favourite Lunch spot/Tea House in Cape Town, with your delicious cakes and great selection of French teas... BUT service is the winning ticket. And after your staff made us feel very uncomfortable and argued with us to leave 'soon', even with your owner/manager hiding behind the plant - your place is now a no go from me!! You have taken so much care to offer beautiful comfortable chairs, your food has been made with love and care even great big tea pots, fine china to drink from... You could have what it takes to make your guest feel like they are somewhere special BUT telling your guests to hurry up because you have a train to catch leaves a rather bitter after taste.
