Food:

Constantia Uitsig never disappoints and the delectable cuisine is almost worthy of a tasting menu, such is the creative talent of resident chef Clayton Bell. Regulars will attest to the flavours of the Mediterranean in the starters as captured in the carpaccio de pesce, the tomato tart and the seared Atlantic scallops. Don’t be shy to try the soup of the day. There is a choice between the à la carte menu or the chef’s special three-course seasonal menu, which includes guinea fowl with artichoke and truffle sauce, trippa alla Toscana, veal sweetbreads, pastas and gorgeous game and steak accompanied by silky sauces. It’s worth saving up to celebrate any special occasion.

Wine:

An award-winning wine list is extensive and detailed, featuring wines produced on the Constantia Uitsig estate as well as some real cellar gems that complete a total gastronomic experience.

Service:

The attention to detail as well as the smartly attired, knowledgeable staff make for a pleasant evening and certainly match world-class standards.

Ambience:

By night, the original Cape Dutch manor house sets the scene for a warm and inviting experience. During the day, patrons on the terrace and those seated indoors at the window are treated to the spectacular vineyards of the estate. This setting could be straight out of Tuscany.

And...:

Disappointing that the chef’s special menu, always a winner for locals, is not offered with wine anymore. (PU, October 2012)
