This New York-style finedining restaurant opens for quick lunches, three-course dinners and a cuppa in-between. Still busy and with a loyal following after 10 years of business on the main Parkhurst strip, the menu is as you remember it – turkey and avo sandwiches or steak prego roll for lunch; chilli maple-glazed chicken, fig and duck or bacon and vodka pasta for dinner. Try the breadand- butter pudding made with crème brûlée and croissants.

Now here's a restaurant that I've been intimidated to try. Long before the bar upstairs, I'd walked past but never felt like I could walk in. I don't know what it was about the restaurant. However this has changed for me. Perhaps it's a reflection of my growth and confidence in myself, that I am now not intimidated by formally dressed waiters and tables dressed in white linen, I don't know. Whatever the reason, I'm happy I can freely dine at George's. It's great and the manager is equally great. I especially love the added bar area on top. My favourite food has to be their sundried mash potatoes. I've yet to try it at home, but definitely a meal I still have dreams about. I love, love, love mash, and they certainly know exactly how to do it, and how to do it the way I'd never seen it done.
